“Photography takes an instant out of time, altering life by holding it still.” – Dorothea Lange
Even though we can stop time or wouldn’t want. It is awesome when we can capture a small space and time well to reflect upon and inspire us to look at life positively and optimistically in the future. Capturing a landscape seems simple but event the most permanent of landscapes is always changing; lighting/colour, night/day, seasons and weather change one image from the next and we never can get the same image again. I find it mesmerising and look just going out and observing. I think the following quote by Henry Thoreau really capture this feeling much better than my words ever could
“When I consider how, after sunset, the stars come out gradually in troops from behind the hills and woods, I confess that I could not have contrived a more curious and inspiring sight.”
I love coming up with a plan to take photos of this landscape or that, it rarely ends up exactly how you plan it. After you pack the car and hit the road you never know exactly what your going to get, what obstacles will get in the way and what the final images will look like no matter how much you try to plan.
I am lucky to live in a beautiful country and have had the opportunity to travel to see amazing landscapes just waiting to be captured from the cities and remote areas. I love to be able to share these images with everyone and hope they give as many people as possible some happiness.
